Horizontal "Living" Levee: A Unique Approach To Sea Level Rise and Wastewater Treatment 

CWEA Santa Clara Valley Section along with the City of Palo Alto Regional Water Quality Control Plant (RWQCP) is excited to host the June BBQ and highlight the Palo Alto Horizontal Levee Pilot Project that is close to completing construction. This project is the first of its kind to be built and connected to the San Francisco Bay. It will utilize final effluent from the adjacent RWQCP to irrigate native plantings and will inform future “living levee” designs all around the Bay Area.
